Professor David Waltz
Coordinated Sciences Laboratory
University of Illinois
Urbana, Ill.

Dear Dave:

\J
Enclosed is some of the literature you have requested.
Included is the recent report on our new arm-automation language
('AL). In addition, I have included some information on the Stanford
model arm itself, per the request of one of your students. The "Care
and Feeding" paper was for SRI, but you may be able to use it too.
Some of the other papers may be redundant, so spread them around if
you already have a copy.

The motors are almost on their way. I just have to finish
installing the encoders on the joint 1 and 2 drives. You will very
soon get the motors for joints 1, 2, and 3. Joints 4,5,6, and 7 will
be completed shortly. Bear with me please- you will not regret it.

For your information, we (Stanford) still do not have any
arms running on the PDP 11. I now predict that it will be no earlier
than April 1 before that occurs.\.
